I read an article recently in which it was discussed that more and more links were being drawn in the medical community between gut health and chronic and debilitating diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimers.
What is gut health and how we do we look at it from a Chinese Medicine standpoint?
In Chinese medicine the gut is the gateway to all disease (similar to whats been discovered recently).
Any problem you have whether it’s more obviously related to digestion such as IBS or nausea or bloating or even more complex such as recurring sinus issues and common colds- gut health is the first thing that we look at in Chinese medicine.
First some facts- The digestive system is huge! Think the surface area of a tennis court huge.
And whenever we have disease we always, not some of the time- always have an issue with the bacteria and tissues in the gut.
Every symptom you commonly experience whether its migraines or headaches, knee pain or skin issues will drastically reduce if we treat and heal the gut.
So how does Acupuncture come into the picture.
Acupuncture works by stimulating specific acu-points on the body to send information to the brain to fix a problem.
Imagine a traffic jam. Everything is at a standstill and your not moving anywhere- that’s disease. Whether it’s inflammation or injury. The traffic jam in your body is preventing your body from doing that it needs to to work properly.
Enter Acupuncture or the traffic control and incident support team. Acupuncture tells the brain to send out the Fire truck, the police, the ambulance crew and traffic controllers to remove the incidence as safely and as quickly as possible so we can keep driving.
In our bodies this equates to increasing: endorphin production to relieve pain, anti-inflammatories to fight infection and foreign bodies, tissue regeneration cells, and stimulating proper circulation.
So when you have gut problems, in Chinese medicine we send out Acupuncture to target the areas in the gut we want to repair and heal and use Chinese herbs and Supplements to repair the gut lining and ensure complete remission.
One of the products we use daily in the clinic and can’t endorse more is bone broth.
Bone broth is a super food that heals the gut lining and supports everything that affects the body from skin issues- to fatigue.
Top to bottom. Pound to pound there is nothing better. The product that we use in clinic is called “Best of the Bone”, and we use it as a powerful adjunct to Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine treatment.
If you’d love to learn more about Acupuncture and/or bone broth- reach out to our clinic at any time.
